    One of the most significant collections of convict-era art has been discovered in an old cupboard in Ontario, Canada. It includes 35 watercolours of Newcastle in NSW, painted by Captain James Wallis and convict artist Joseph Lycett. In late 2011, the State Library of NSW bought the paintings for $1.8 million. The collection is currently on display in Newcastle.
