    The former Bundaberg Hospital surgeon Jayant Patel could soon be freed from jail after the High Court unanimously upheld his appeal and ordered a re-trial. Patel has been serving a seven year sentence for the manslaughter of three of his patients and the grievous bodily harm of another but the High Court has agreed that there was a miscarriage of justice in the way the trial was conducted.
