Australia's role as a world leader in the bid to cut smoking rates has been undermined by its investments in tobacco companies. The Government's Future Fund portfolio includes about $250 million worth of shares in 15 tobacco manufacturers, including British American Tobacco and Philip Morris. The investment is seemingly at odds with the Government's plain packaging policy and its win in the High Court last week.
