In St Peter's Square an audience of around 50,000 heard Pope Benedict declare Mary MacKillop a saint. Mary MacKillop was born in Melbourne of Scottish migrant parents. She went on to co-found the order of nuns, the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
